MAYDAY PAIN & SOCIETY FELLOWSHIP:  APPLICATIONS SEASON EXTENDED TO JULY 1, 2007

The application season for the 2007 Mayday Pain & Society Fellowship; A Media & Policy Fellows Initiative has just been extended to July 1, 2007, so there's still time to apply.  I serve on the Advisory Committee for the Fellowship and can tell you first hand about the quality and benefit of this program.  I heartily recommend the program to persons looking to hone their communications skills and increase their impact in the public sphere to benefit people in pain.

It is a great opportunity that will train leaders to become proficient at working with the media and policymakers on important issues in pain treatment and management. The program starts with a four-day communications and policy training in Washington, D.C., from October 22-25, 2007. Over the course of the five months following the training, Mayday Fellows get the chance to work one-on-one with communications professionals to develop a media strategy for a goal of their choosing.

The Mayday Pain & Society Fellowship was established by The Mayday Fund, a New York City-based foundation dedicated to alleviating the incidence, degree, and consequence of human physical pain.

I strongly encourage interested individuals to consider applying or to share this information with someone you believe would make a good Fellowship candidate.  You can visit their website, at,
www.painandhealth.org/maydayfellows/fellows.html to find out more and to download an application.

All the best,
