Traveling Scholars 2002

14th International Congress on Care of the Terminally Ill
Montreal, QC Canada

Flavio Nervi, MD from Clinica Familia in Chile was awarded the IAHPC Traveling Scholarship to attend the 14th International Congress on Care of the Terminally Ill in Montreal, QC Canada on October, 2002.

"I am most grateful to the IAHPC for the 2002 award Travel Scholar Fellowship to attend the 14th International Congress on Care of the terminally Ill in Montreal on October 2002. This was an excellent opportunity to gather up to date information about a number of key issues related to symptom control and comprehensive palliative care, as well as, important contemporary ethical issues. I was impressed of the multiplicity and heterogeneity and of problems faced by people from different continents. Of major concern is the overwhelming health problems faced by African countries, including the pandemic of AIDS throughout the continent and famine in the North East African Countries."

Dr. Flavio Nervi, MD
IAHPC 2002 Traveling Scholar

"Dr Nervi giving his presentation on the Clinica Familia in Chile in the IAHPC workshop in Montreal. Clinica Familia is a palliative care center for poor patients with advanced AIDS and cancer in Santiago, Chile"
