IAHPC BOOK REVIEW

TOPICS IN PALLIATIVE CARE, Volume 2

Russell Portenoy and Eduardo Bruera (eds)

Oxford University Press, 1998
351 pp
ISBN 0-19-510245-2
RRP £ 45 $US 57.75

The Oxford Topics in Palliative Care series comprise reviews on a variety of topics covering the spectrum of palliative care. Volume 2 (1998) includes chapters on neuropathic pain, cachexia and anorexia, asthenia, and psychological issues in the caregiver.

In general, these reviews are well-written and adequately referenced. They provide an in-depth discussion of various subjects and the reviews of therapeutics are particularly useful. Not exactly cheap, but they are a worthwhile investment for any palliative care service library.
